FAQ
What is CBD?
CBD is short for the scientific term cannabidiol, which is one of 120 compounds called cannabinoids found in cannabis. It offers several health benefits but doesn’t create a “high” feeling, this is why increasing numbers are turning to CBD products to alleviate physical ailments, as well as mental health issues to name a few.
CBD is often consumed as an oil and is available to be taken in a wide variety of forms, from capsules, droplets, e-liquid and now chewing gum.

What does CBD oil do?
CBD works by helping to regulate functions in the body, including your immune system, inflammation, sleep, fertility, motor control, mood, memory, pain and pleasurable sensations. This means that when something is wrong, CBD helps to correct it by binding to your body’s receptors.
As a result, CBD has been claimed to help with:
- Relieving stress
- Treating insomnia
- Reducing anxiety and depression
- Relieving joint pain
- Clearing up acne
- Alleviating symptoms that come with cancer, epilepsy and MS
- Addictions such as smoking or drugs
What is CBD gum and how does it work?
CBD gum is type of chewing gum that offers an effective way to relieve pain, just like other oral CBD forms, such as capsules, pills and oil.
As you chew the piece of gum, the particles in the product break off into your saliva and thus nutrients are absorbed easily. By bypassing your digestive tract and avoiding the digestive system, it allows the CBD to maintain its bioavailability and means that the CBD gets absorbed by your body five-times faster than other forms of oral ingestion.
Thus, CBD offers a safe and effective alternative to other oral CBD forms because it is:
- Convenient and easy to use
- Discreet and easily portable
- Minty flavours
- CBD is released from the gum quickly
What does CBD taste like?
How CBD tastes depends entirely on how you are consuming it and how high the dosage is. Typically, each oral CBD option tastes as follows:
- CBD oil: CBD oil drops have a characteristically “earthy” taste, which is often deemed unpleasant by users. Although, some types of CBD oil have no flavour at all, and others come with added flavourings to make it slightly easier to swallow.
- CBD gum: Tastes minty. Our CBD gum comes in both spearmint and peppermint flavours.
- CBD capsules: No taste or odour.
- CBD gummies: They are often made using additional sugars and additives, which help to mask any CBD flavour.
How long does CBD oil take to work?
Depending on how you consume CBD oil, it can affect how long it takes to enter your bloodstream. When taken sublingually, CBD can enter your bloodstream in as little as 20 minutes. However, other methods such as capsules or edibles, means a slower affect which can take around 2 hours.
If you are a beginner, you may expect instant changes to your body and wellbeing. However, in fact it may take some time to reap the full effects.
It is important to bear in mind that, depending on what you are taking CBD for, you may experience different effects. For example, if you are taking CBD for insomnia, you may have a great night’s sleep after your first intake of CBD. On the other hand, if you are taking it for anxiety or joint pain, it may take a month or two to feel the CBD benefits.

There is often some confusion over whether CBD is legal or not. Even though CBD is obtained from cannabis plants, it does not contain the psychoactive substance THC, which creates the “high” effect when taking the Class B drug, cannabis.
In the UK, CBD is perfectly safe to use and can often be found for sale on high-street stores, such as Holland and Barrett. However, it is worth noting that CBD oil is only legal in the UK when the THC content is under 0.2%, so be sure to check if you are purchasing.
It is worth noting that if you are thinking of taking your CBD away with you on holiday, check the legislation surrounding this before travelling, as it differs from country to country.
